WestSchweizCustoms – Automotive e-commerce with vehicle filters

A WooCommerce shop for car tuning accessories featuring over 3,500 products, a custom wheel search based on vehicle specifications, and automatic product synchronisation via a cron job.

Challenge

WestSchweizCustoms, based in Bösingen, is the Swiss distributor for several tuning brands: Cosmis and Varrix wheels, Silver’s Suspensions chassis, and Hotomobil pickup campers. The challenge: customers need to be able to find rims and suspension systems based on specific vehicle data – bolt pattern, offset, diameter – and, above all, ones that fit their car model. Furthermore, thousands of products from various manufacturers need to be managed efficiently and kept up to date.

Solution

In collaboration with Pe-Art.ch, I have developed a comprehensive WooCommerce shop featuring the following functions:

  • WooCommerce shop with over 3,500 products across 13 categories
  • Custom PHP product filter with FacetWP for vehicle-specific searches
  • Wheel rim search by: make, model, bolt circle, offset, diameter, width, colour
  • Suspension search by car make and model (over 500 vehicles)
  • Automatic product synchronisation via cron job and PHP script
  • CSV import of various manufacturer lists
  • Multi-brand setup with separate landing pages per brand
  • WhatsApp integration for customer enquiries

Results

Customers can find the right wheels or suspension systems for their vehicle in seconds. Automatic synchronisation ensures that over 3,000 Silver suspension systems are always up to date. Shop owners can easily import new manufacturer lists via CSV.

  • Custom wheel search with vehicle filter

    Customers can find the right wheels by filtering by vehicle specifications – bolt pattern, offset, diameter and more.

    In the tuning sector, searching for wheel rims is a complex process: not every rim fits every vehicle. Customers need to be able to filter by technical specifications.

    Using FacetWP and custom PHP, I have developed a filtering logic that supports the following criteria:

    • Wheel brand: Cosmis, Varrix
    • Wheel model: XS-5, R1, XT-005R, XT-206R, etc.
    • Bolt pattern: 5×114.3, 5×120, etc.
    • Offset: 20mm, 30mm, 35mm, 45mm
    • Diameter: 18″, 20″
    • Width: 8.5, 9.5, 10.0
    • Colour: Bronze, Hyper Bronze, etc.
    • Suitable for car models: Over 500 vehicles from Audi to Toyota

    The filters can be combined and display the number of available products in real time.

  • Cron job-based product synchronisation

    Over 3,000 Silver chassis are synchronised automatically via a cron job and a PHP script.

    Silver’s Suspensions offers suspension systems for hundreds of vehicle models in various versions (NeoMAX, NeoMAX R, NeoMAX S, NeoMAX Super Low, NeoMAX 2-Way, NeoMAX Litech). Manually managing over 3,000 products would be impossible.

    The solution:

    • PHP script imports manufacturer data
    • Cron job performs regular synchronisation
    • New products are created automatically
    • Existing products are updated (prices, availability)
    • Product attributes (vehicle model, chassis type) are correctly assigned

    This ensures the shop is always up to date – without any manual effort.

    WestSchweizCustoms is a distributor for several independent brands:

    • Cosmis Racing Wheels – performance rims from Taiwan
    • Varrix – budget rims
    • Silver’s Suspensions – coilover suspension kits
    • Hotomobil – Pick-up campers and roof tents

    Each brand has:

    • Its own landing page with brand branding
    • Separate product categories
    • Specific filter options
    • External brand website (cosmis.ch, silvers-suspensions.ch)

    The customer experiences a unified shop, whilst each brand retains its own identity.
